A vIRGINIA WEDDING VENUE RICH IN HISTORY
Burlington’s story began more than two centuries ago, when Edwin and Sara Major began construction of the original farmhouse in 1815, completing it in 1818 and later expanding the home around 1840. In 1859, the property passed to John Munford Gregory, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates and former Governor of Virginia.
Today, pieces of that history remain throughout the property—from original pine floors and early architectural details to the late-1700s smokehouse and Colonial ice house once used to store ice cut from nearby Mapsico Creek. Thoughtfully preserved and paired with modern amenities, Burlington gives couples the opportunity to celebrate their own story in a place that has been part of Virginia’s for more than 200 years.
